Overview

Discovery Channel is an American channel supported via satellite and cable television. Its former name is "The Discovery Channel", and was founded by John Hendricks under the distribution of Discovery Communications.

Discovery Channel centers mainly on history, popular science, and technology. In the United States, the focus of Discovery Channel is on TV themes that are reality-based. These include documentaries for adults and younger viewers (e.g. Shark Week), automobiles, exploratory investigations (e.g., Unsolved History, MythBusters), and occupations (e.g. Dirty Jobs).
