Timeline

" September 1997 - the very first National Geographic Channel in the world was launched in Australia and Europe

" July 1998 - National Geographic Channel Asia was launched. This was in distribution and partnership with STAR TV. At the present, National Geographic Channel Asia is available in 25 languages, watched in over 160,000,000 homes, and viewable in more than 143 countries.

" January 2001 - National Geographic Channel (USA) was launched by National Geographic Television & Film, a joint venture with Fox Networks. The former provides the programming expertise while the latter takes care of the marketing, distribution and advertisement sales.
